Park and Agricultural Heritage Museum, Community of Eptagonia, Cyprus
Ochtos, (Greek) noun, masculine
1. Variant word for seashore
2. A low elevation of land accumulated in vertical farming fields to hold back the ground.
The structural element of the wall, the mound used for creating the steps, is given emphasis as the structural element of our proposal's construction.
We use the retaining wall holding back the mound's earth so that by changing its shape, we can create corresponding spaces, while by repeating it, we can set up a system of steps of variable gradual altitudes so that they can become both the axes of the park, and the main structure of the museum area; furthermore, the walk up to the plateau of the cultural centre, combined with the features mentioned above, creates an indivisible unity of space.
